DOHA: A Qatar-based Orthodontics Consultant has become one of the first in the entire Middle East to performDamon 3 system of orthodontics, one of the most advanced technologies being used across the world for dental treatment.
Through the conventional method of treatment, teeth were tied in with elastics, which caused friction and pressure, making treatment slower and less comfortable. The Damon 3 system makes smiles look fuller as compared to the conventional systems.
Talking to The Peninsula Mohammad Kalla, Medical Director of Kalla Medcare, said in Qatar reports a total of 114,000 dental cases annually. Of this, 20,189 are children. Earlier, explaining the operational mechanism of this technology a workshop attended by senior orthodontics, specialists, heads of orthodentics sections in hospitals like Hamad Medical Corporation, the Military, Marwan Dental Center, Dr Arrigo Perri, a representative of Ormco (American Orthodontics Manufacturers) said that the self- ligating aspect eliminates the need for elastic or metal "ties". With Damon tie-less braces, treatment is imparted without tightening.
Dr Haider A Hashim of Rumailah Hospital said "this system enables teeth to move faster and needs only fewer adjustments as compared to the conventional system, though expensive but the result is final"
Highlighting the feature of the Damon 3 system, Bayan Alrachid, regional Manager of Ormco commented: "this technology is in most demand now as it reduces time- factor and replaces other parameters of conventional treatment. With the Damon system treatment time is typically shorter than with conventional braces. And shorter treatments time means fewer appointments and a beautiful smile.
