The UAE will mark World First Aid Day today under the slogan "First aid: a humanitarian initiative that makes difference".
The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) is organising a wide range of activities nationwide in co-operation with ministries, health and educational government departments, Ministry of Interior, General Directorate of Civil Defence and a number of institutions and societies engaged in healthcare and traffic safety.
The UAE joins hands with the international community to highlight the importance of first aid and its role in saving lives of thousands people in critical cases that require an enough experience to deal with such cases.
Sanaa Darwish Al Kutbi, Secretary General of the RCA, stressed the importance of the event, which is being organised by the RCA at both local and international levels.
Sanaa indicated to the great efforts exerted by the RCA's Department of Health Education and Training in organising training courses on first aid for the most exposed categories to heart attacks or traffic accidents such as teachers, students, drivers and others.
First aid is one of the priorities of the RCA and it is also considered a basic pillar of its humanitarian message.
The authority is also drawing attention towards healthcare to all members of society. Health care is considered the basic theme of the RCA's activities.
Sanaa has expressed her satisfaction at all agencies taking part in the international event, paying tribute to their unique efforts to make this event a success.
Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazroui, Deputy Secretary General of the RCA's Local Affairs, said the World First Aid Day is an important event at both local and international levels.
Dr Al Mazroui highlighted the importance of the day and its significant role in raising awareness among them.
A wide range of activities including lectures, seminars will be held.Visits will be paid to several first aid units. The visits will be organised in collaboration with nursing schools, healthcare centres, hospitals and colleges of medicine of the UAE, Sharjah and Ajman Universities.
