Speaking on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, Sheikha Hind bint Majid Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Businesswomen Council (SBWC), said: “This year as we celebrate the sixth Emirati Women’s Day, we can take pride in the fact that Emirati women constitute 46.6 percent of UAE’s labour market, and own 10 percent of the businesses in the country. These positive achievements contribute to the building of our cherished nation and we are thankful to our wise leadership for UAE’s economic diversification policies that support and encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in women. We are also grateful to the social organisations and institutions in the UAE dedicated to developing the capabilities of women.”
“SBWC prides itself in contributing to the inclusive development process across the Emirate of Sharjah. The Council aims to build and strengthen the UAE’s female-led business and entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing them with the tools to succeed a business-friendly environment that supports their projects. Thanks to the guidance and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Honorary Chairperson of SBWC, the Council’s active membership has increased to more than 2,000 in the last five years. SBWC thanks our wise leadership for encouraging women’s participation in all sectors and pledges to support them by continuing to help them acquire the right tools and utilise opportunities to drive sustainable development,” Sheikha Hind added.
