Transactions between Iran and Turkmenistan amounted to $3.2 billion in 2013, said the Turkmen deputy minister of economy and development.
Speaking at Iran-Turkmenistan Trade Conference in Ashgabat, Serdar Atayev added that in this period, Turkmenistan's exports to Iran amounted to $2.08 billion and the country's imports reached $1.11 billion, Fars News Agency reported.
He put the two country's trade in the first half of 2014 at $1.84 billion, of which $1.28 billion pertained to Turkmenistan's exports to Iran and $560 million to Tehran's exports to Ashgabat.
Atayev listed his country's export items to Iran as oil and gas byproducts, electricity, techno-engineering equipments and textiles.
He added that Iran's exports included foodstuff, chemical products, petrochemicals, techno-engineering equipments and services, metals, construction materials and cement.
"Iranian investors have established 147 companies in Turkmenistan. Also, 88 projects worth $1.3 billion are underway by Iranian companies in the country," he said.
The Turkmen deputy minister also said the projects pertain to oil and gas industry, transportation, telecommunications, agro, housing and water sectors.
Atayev said Turkmenistan had transactions worth $35 billion with 110 countries in 2013.
