RIO DE JANEIRO, May 18, 2005 - Schlumberger marks 60 years of continuous service in Brazil this year with celebrations and participation in industry events throughout the year.

The first Schlumberger wireline log in Brazil was run on December 21, 1945, for Conselho Nacional do Petr?leo do Brasil in Candeias field, C-21 in Bahia, northeast of Brazil. The implementation of new technologies, the training of our employees, the care with the environment, the contribution in the development of communities where we act, and the commitment to research and development for improvement of our performance and our customer's results, are part of our history in the country."

Schlumberger has strongly maintained the principles that guided its history in Brazil by pioneering the introduction of value-adding technologies; delivering products and services through a committed and motivated workforce; and pursuing excellence in quality, health, safety, and the environment.
