Top ice cream brand to open 20 new stores across Asir

Company present effectively in most neighboring cities

Jeddah: Baskin Robbins, the region's most-popular and the leading ice cream brand and the world's largest chain of ice cream specialty stores, today announced its plans to enter the Asir region in southwestern part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in which it plans to open four new stores this summer.

The ice cream brand, which has carved a niche with customers in the Kingdom for over 30 years, also unveiled plans to open 20 standalone Baskin Robbins store across Asir over the next four years including 10 in Khamis Musheet and seven in Abha.

The stores will be operated by Galadari Ice Cream Company (GICC), the exclusive licensee for Baskin Robbins for the entire region since 1978, through Jumeirah Trading Co Ltd (JTCL), its licensee in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

All the stores will be offering the entire gamut of ice cream experience that has come to be associated with Baskin Robbins, including its innovative flavours, milk shakes, ice cream cakes, ice cream scoops and cones. The new stores will add on the extensive Baskin Robbins expansion plans in KSA.

Mr. Ali bin Hussein Bin Qamash, Vice Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Abha pointed out that such a significant step represents the promising investment atmosphere in Asir region in the present time and in the future as well. He added that all of these come as a part of the comprehensive renaissance taking place throughout the Kingdom, under the guidance of the wise government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.

"We are so excited about this launch of Baskin Robbins in Asir. We see a real potential in this promising market and we're aiming to open 20 new standalone stores in the Asir region by 2015. The standalone stores are our basic model and right now we have 255 stores across all major cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," said the marketing and development manager at Baskin Robbins in KSA. He added: "Our standalone stores are an essential model for our stores in which we have 255 spread across the major cities in the Kingdom. Baskin Robbins creates and markets innovative, premium ice cream, specialty frozen desserts and beverages, providing quality and value to consumers. Currently, Baskin Robbins is witnessing unprecedented growth in the Kingdom, enjoying sales growth of over 25% year-to-date at every store".

"At Baskin Robbins, we have always made it a point to sell fun as an experience more than an ice cream and constantly in a process of innovating our product range to satisfy our discerning consumers in which we became their favorite destination in the region.  A testimony to this is our aggressive growth across all major cities whether Eastern Central or Western and that is the true achievement which was by opening 32 stores in 2010 alone, and estimated to touch 42 new standalones this year," said Saleh Yadkar- General Manager of Jumeirah Trading Co Ltd.

Baskin Robbins is also currently the largest QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) brand in the entire region in terms of store penetration. Baskin Robbins operates two unique BR Cafés in Jeddah and Khobar, with plans to open one café soon in Riyadh.
