· Americare is the first home care organization to receive JCI accreditation in the UAE, and the first private sector home care organization in the Middle East to receive JCI's global distinction for the highest quality patient care.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Americare Home Health Services, a leading home care provider in Abu Dhabi, has been accredited with the prestigious 'Gold Seal of Approval' by the US-based Joint Commission International (JCI), considered as the world's leader in health care accreditation. This development makes Americare the first home care organization to receive JCI accreditation in the UAE, and the first private sector home care organization in the Middle East to receive JCI's global distinction for the highest quality patient care.
JCI works with hospitals and other health care organizations, health systems, government ministries, public health agencies, academic institutions, and businesses around the world to promote peak performance in the delivery of patient care. Hospitals and medical facilities seeking JCI accreditation go through stringent assessment, based on over 300 standards, including on-site inspections and examinations.
Americare was cited by JCI for meeting the highest quality and the best safety standards in patient care, and for itscommitment to continuing quality development.
Dr. Imad Nakad, CEO, Americare Home Health Services, said, "The JCI Gold Seal of Approval is a testament to the quality of service we provide our patients. We are continuously motivated by our vision to be recognized as a creative leader in the development and delivery of interdisciplinary services that will improve the quality of life of home-bound patients, and this accreditation is a realisation of our hard work. It is an honour that will further inspire us to strengthen our commitment toexcellence in providing safe and effective patient care."
Through its multidisciplinary team, Americare offers comprehensive and hospital-modeled medical services and care to patients of all ages in the comfort of their homes. Among its services are physician visits, around the clock professional nursing, and therapy services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology and social work.
Americare, while known to offer the widest scope of home health services and to have the largest number of nurses and therapists in the UAE home care industry, also plays an exceptionally important role in providing care to the elderly people of the society.
It has a unique and comprehensive approach to home care for the older people, in which they carefully assess each patient's condition and assign caregivers based on the patient's specific needs. Skilled nursing care is also supervised by a highly-qualified physician.
"This level of service is unmatched in the industry and we offer this kind of service as part of our commitment - and in response to the government's call - to improve elderly home care services in the country," Dr. Nakad explained.
The UAE government has been intensifying its efforts to promote further awareness regarding care for elderly Emiratis, especially in recognition of their contributions to the society. Based on estimates, the elderly population in the UAE (those above 60 years), is expected to comprise 20 per cent of the entire population. Noting the many and varied health issues associated with ageing, as well as accompanying special needs, quality, efficiency and innovation in senior health care has become all the more imperative.
