Dubai: Al-Futtaim’s latest shopping project, urban community mall Festival Plaza, announced today that when open in December 2019, it will house the tallest navigation tower from anchor tenant IKEA. Standing at 70m, the navigation tower, which has become a signature emblem of IKEA’s around the world, will be the World’s Tallest IKEA Navigation Tower.

The neighborhood destination retail precinct will serve as a convenient and community mall for the surrounding Wasl Gate community, located within fifteen minutes driving time for many neighbourhoods such as Jebel Ali, Al Furjan and Dubai Marina. Once open, the IKEA store will be the biggest in the UAE and joins two others in Dubai Festival City Mall and Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi. Spread over a huge 32,500 square metres, the store will have an added focus on sustainability and an international training centre for IKEA employees.

Timothy Earnest, Group Director of Al-Futtaim Malls commented: “Festival Plaza truly embodies the Festival City brand of celebration and it certainly was a cause for celebration to reveal this landmark achievement for IKEA. Once again, we are providing customers with a one-of-a-kind experience by being able to lay claim to this unique feat. Added to the convenient location and community feel of Festival Plaza, we hope this will appeal to our customers and satisfy their needs. We look forward to welcoming them in a few months.”

IKEA will be joined by other flagship tenants including M&S and Lulu Hypermarket, as well as over an additional 120 others, and complimented by a 500-seat food court, over 40 dining and eating options, a Stay and Play offering, family entertainment Kids Club and over 2,300 parking spaces.

‘We are very excited to make UAE home to the World’s Tallest IKEA Navigation Tower. The free-standing navigation tower is a highly visible asset for the brand. With IKEA’s distinctive blue and yellow wordmark, the tower is a part of the store trade dress and adds to the visibility factor of IKEA. Our ambition at IKEA is to inspire and enable people to live a more sustainable life at home, therefore the new store is being built with sustainability at its core and will contribute to our efforts in this direction.’ added Vinod Jayan, Managing Director for IKEA UAE, Egypt and Oman.

With a multitude of retail, dining and entertainment options, Festival Plaza will serve as a convenient and family lifestyle mall easily accessible from Sheikh Zayed Road, fifteen minutes from Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah and a few minutes away from RTA Energy Metro Station.
