Shadwell Farm are among a host of big name sponsors who will support Friday's Al Barsha race meeting, to be staged at the Jebel Ali Racecourse.

Other companies returning to renew their ties with the popular weekend 'family' racecourse are Commercial Bank of Dubai, National Bank of Dubai, Al Shafar Group of Companies, Emirates Horse Breeders Society and Servu, a division of Union Properties, it was announced at a press conference held at the Emirates Towers.

The press conference was attended by representatives of the sponsors including Hisam Al Qasimi of NBD, Waleed bin Suloom of Commercial Bank of Dubai, Farid Al Sayeg of Emirates Horse Breedings Society, Faisal Al Shafar of Al Shafar Group of companies and Mario Seneviratne of Servu.

In a statement to the press Mirza Al Sayeg, representing Shadwell Farm, said that they were happy to support the Jebel Ali Racecourse and that plans were to organise an all-Arabian race meet at the venue next season.

Organisers of the meet emphasised that the event will be run under the banner of the Al Barsha Race Meeting in keeping with the instructions of Major General Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Head of Dubai Police and Public Security, to promote the UAE's heritage through the sport.

In keeping with tradition a variety of competitions will be held for racegoers. Prizemoney of Dh88,000 will be awarded for the selection competitions, which include a Grand prize of Dh40,000.

Once again a Hyundai Accent 2003 model will be raffled against coupons of Dh10 each during the meet. The winning ticket will be draw after the last race. The ticket holder must be present to collect the prize.

The Jebel Ali Racecourse are joined by Pepsi and Insurance Services Management in giving away gifts that include gold chains and electronic items, to lucky racegoers.

The Al Shafar Group of Companies will continue to support the 'Best Turnedout Horse competition' with a purse of Dh7,000 - Dh1,000 for each of the meet's seven races.

The organising committee have pulled out all the stops to ensure that the meet will provide top class sporting action and entertainment to racegoers.

Transportation has been arranged for racegoers to help them travel from the car parks to the racecourse.
