DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--National Drilling Co., or NDC, has awarded an 800 million United Arab Emirates dirham contract ($218 million) to build and supply onshore oil drilling rigs to two China National Petroleum Corp. units, the official Emirates news agency WAM reports Thursday.
NDC, a unit of state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., or Adnoc, awarded the contract to Baoji Oilfield Machinery Co., or Bomco, and China Petroleum Technology and Development Corp., or CPTDC, WAM reports.
The deal will benefit oil companies working in the U.A.E., WAM quotes Abdullah Al Suwaidi, NDC's general manager, as saying.
Baoji Oilfield Machinery Co. is the largest machinery manufacturer under the umbrella of China National Petroleum Corp., while CPTDC is the largest supplier of Chinese petroleum and petrochemical materials and equipment in the world, according to the companies' Web sites.
Abu Dhabi, the largest of seven emirates that make up the U.A.E., holds almost all the country's oil reserves. The U.A.E., an Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries member, presently pumps about 2.25 million barrels a day of crude.
