Dubai: H.E. Dr. Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, has discussed with Ian Steff, Assistant Secretary of the Global Markets Commerce's International Trade Administration of the United State, prospects for cooperation and the possibility of signing agreements and partnerships to support investments in the health sector.
During a meeting held today on the sidelines of the 45th Arab Health being held at Dubai World Trade Centre, both sides agreed on the necessity of sharing and exchanging expertise especially in the organ transplantation, domain through organizing visiting doctor programs.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Dr. Salem Al Darmaki, Adviser to the Minister of Health and Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Policy and Licensing Sector along with the American Ambassador of the country and the Consul General in Dubai,
Dr Al Olama stressed the importance of the meeting, which comes as an extension to previous visits to further develop joint cooperation in various areas including artificial intelligence and telemedicine.
He invited the US pharmaceutical companies to register their medicines in the UAE especially the innovative ones as the UAE does support intellectual property rights.
Both sides also spoke about modern technologies and how they can be used towards a better and more effective treatment, saying that there is an ongoing coordination to conclude partnerships in the near future.
Al Olama also met British Ambassador to UAE, HE. Patrick Moody accompanied by Simon Benny, the Trade Commissioner and discussed with the guests ways of boosting cooperation in the health sector.
Al Olama said that the ministry is very keen to strike partnerships with international bodies to improve the efficiency of the UAE’s health sector, share experiences, stimulate competitiveness and improve the quality of provided services.
He added that MoHAP is doing its best to offer exceptional healthcare services using artificial intelligence, Blockchain technology, telemedicine and modern medical technologies.
The delegates said they were impressed by the remarkable development in the UAE’s health sector, saying that the meeting was fruitful and represented a perfect opportunity to further develop their relations with the UAE and explore new avenues of cooperation.
