These initiatives will receive a major boost with the launch of Qwikly electric scooters in Dubai. These electric scooters will add Dubai to the list of very few cities globally with shared eScooters, a sustainable and green mode of transportation. It will cater to short distance travel of one to three kilometers by focusing on the first and last mile connectivity.
Headquartered in California, the technology startup Qwikly Mobility Inc has chosen to invest and launch its shared electric scooter platform in Dubai because of the city’s track record of adopting technology to create a sustainable impact for businesses, its people as well as the environment. The company will be officially launching the scooters at GITEX 2018, from October 14-17. Qwikly has recently closed its Pre-Seed funding round with a prominent Japanese investor and has partnered with Acacus Technologies, Dubai’s home-grown technology leader specializing in intelligent fleet management and optimization technology.
Qwikly scooters are point-to-point, accessible by a smartphone with an app, battery operated, with GPS tracking. It has integrated locks and wheel stops, on a single charge, can cover 30 kilometers with a maximum speed of 25 kilometers. It will redefine the way Dubai moves, especially for a short distance travel from the metro or bus station to the office., from home to the nearest metro or a recreation or shopping destination.
Speaking on the announcement of Qwikly launch, UAE Country Manager Mr. Ammr Shaladi said: “Urban micro-mobility has evolved to be a conscious choice today for people across the world. More citizens are taking up the responsibility to choose sustainability and make green living part of their daily routine. Qwikly will focus on bringing this choice to markets globally. Our scooters and technology will focus on making an affordable, easy to use and environment-friendly ecosystem for the daily commute, available to all.”

The company also plans to launch Qwikly across other emirates and various cities across the MENA region, Europe and Asia in a phased manner.
