Zain KSA has deployed 5G commercial services in the kingdom, with 2000 towers covering more than 20 cities.

The deployment is the largest 5G network in the region to date and the services will be further expanded to cover 26 cities with 2,600 towers by end of 2019, catering its 8.3 million customers.

The 5G deployment in Saudi Arabia follows Zain’s launch of 5G services in Kuwait

The 5G services will provide prepaid and post-paid customers with high-speed internet connectivity 10 times faster than the current 4G network, Zain KSA said in statement.

Bader Al Kharafi, Zain Vice Chairman & Group CEO, and Zain KSA Vice Chairman commented: “5G will bring substantial change for the Kingdom’s telecom industry, creating new business models and unlocking opportunities for many sectors such as financial, ICT, agricultural, tourism, entertainment, automotive, health, education and public sectors, to name a few. The technology is also expected to contribute significantly to the country’s economy, creating thousands of new jobs.”

The 5G commercial services will enable customers to utilize advanced digital solutions and technologies, including virtual and augmented reality, Automated System Operations, 3D printing, and robotics.
