Dubai-based Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) announced on Sunday that it has signed a contract to provide district cooling services for ‘Marsa Al Arab’ marine tourism and leisure destination project in Dubai.

Empower said in a press statement that it will provide 3,700 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT) of cooling to the project from its district cooling plant in Jumeirah.

The first phase of district cooling services will start by the end of 2021, the statement said.

The 6 billion UAE dirham ($1.6 billion) Marsa Al Arab comprises two artificial islands on both sides of the Burj Al Arab Hotel totalling 3,700 square metres, and housing hotels, luxury villas, restaurants, shops, conference and wedding centres and a yacht club.

Empower said it provides district cooling services to more than 17 percent of the hotels in Dubai.
