Manama, Bahrain: The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) announced that it will be launching the new identity and logo following the announcement of Manama as the “Capital of Arab Tourism for 2020" by displaying it on the side façade of the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay during the New Year's Eve celebrations that will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.

The launch coincides with the selection of Manama as the “Capital of Arab Tourism for 2020” during the 22nd Session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, which was held in Al Ahsa, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Commenting on the occasion, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and Chairman of BTEA, H.E. Mr. Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, said, “The selection of Manama as the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2020 is a result of a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors. We are proud of the continual efforts put forward by BTEA including the vital tourism projects developed to further enhance the Kingdom of Bahrain’s tourism sector increasing its contribution of non-oil sectors to the national economy.”

“In the first 9 months of 2019, total nights spent by tourists reached 10.7 million nights, an increase of 8.8% compared to the same period the previous year, while the average length of stay reached 3.4 nights per tourist, an increase of 20.5%. These statistics are a standing testament to the Authority’s success in implementing its long-term strategy, where one of the main pillars include enhancing its economic contribution to the National Economy,” he added.

“I would like to express our deep-rooted pride in light of the announcement of Manama as the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2020, which is a living testament to the Kingdom’s efforts in strengthening bilateral tourism relations between GCC and Arab countries, as well as showcasing our local historical sites and historical ancient civilizations in the Kingdom. At BTEA, we remain committed to developing projects that compete at regional levels in order to help bolster intra-regional tourism and showcase Bahrain’s tourism potential. We are delighted to launch Manama’s new identity during the New Year's celebrations to mark this milestone achievement and look forward to celebrating this joyous occasion with an exciting line-up of activities that appeal to citizens and visitors from neighboring GCC countries,” said the Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, Mr. Nader Khalil Al Moayyed.

The celebration will kick off with a live performance by the fusion folk music of Majaz Musical Band, the entertainment follows with the ballet dancer performance on stilts ‘A Dance of Color’ performance, in addition to live DJ and Drumming with Sonic Snares, which have travelled from the United Kingdom for the special event, accompanied by mesmerizing light shows. Spectators will also have the opportunity to enjoy the breath-taking musical aerial performance by the dancers and acrobats of SONIC. Chiming in the New Year with style, the event will end with a giant projection of a countdown timer on the side facade of the Four Seasons Bahrain Bay hotel ushering in the midnight hour.  To mark the beginning of 2020, a dazzling fireworks show will also be displayed.
