Abu Dhabi : Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Community Development and President of Zayed University chaired yesterday the second University Council meeting held at the University’s campus in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting took place in the presence of Council Members: H.E. Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Vice-Chair of the University Council and Minister for State for Advanced Sciences, H.E. Abdulnasser Alshaali, Director, Trade Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,  H.E. Shatha AlHashmi, Director, Innovation dept Strategy, Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation, H.E. Humaid Matar Salim Al Dhaheri, Group CEO, Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), H.E. Mariam Saeed Ghobash Vice-Chairman, Abu Dhabi Investment Company Trading, H.E. Saeed Sultan Rashed Al Dhaheri, Chairman,  Sultaco, and Emeritus Professor Rob Whelan Director, Whelan Consulting Pty Ltd, in the presence of Prof. Reyadh Al Mehaideb, Vice -President of Zayed University.

 H.E. Noura Al Kaabi opened the meeting and expressed her appreciation to the Council members for their support of the University’s success on the path of excellence, and their continued efforts to promote the remarkable advancement of the University in academics and research, as well as in management and administration and outreach programs.

Prof. Reyadh AlMehaideb, the University Vice-President, presented the University's strategic and annual objectives, the initial draft of the operating budget for the year 2020, as well as ambitious initiatives the University is keen to implement in the near future in a number of academic areas and a proposal to invest in photovoltaic cells to generate solar energy for the campus.

The Council was briefed on the “Four Star” Rating the University was recently awarded by the QS World University Ranking. This rating places the Zayed University among the 150 top international universities in a number of the of benchmarked standards and criteria. 

On an academic level, the Council approved the  new Master  of Art  in Jurisprudence of Reality, and mandated H.E. the President to issue the lists of graduating cohorts in Undergraduate and Master programs for Fall 2019/2020, which include 700 male and female students in both programs. 

The Council endorsed recommendations submitted by the Council Committees, including: (i) Recommendations by the Academic Affairs Committee to amend the Committee’s Charter and to approve the Undergraduate Admission Policy for the academic year 2020-2021; (ii) a recommendation by the Emiratization and Human Resources Committee to increase the current 55% ratio in national employment across administrative positions by 10%,  which aligns with the UAE Leadership vision and  Government’s directives in this regard; and (iii) recommendations by the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee to  approve the Committee’s amended Charter and the Charter for the University Internal Audit Committee.
