Nissan Middle East recently participated in the biggest regional automotive event across the Middle East and North Africa debuting three new cars for the market. Show visitors, for the first time, laid eyes on the all-new Nissan Sunny 2020, and two new concepts to join the popular Gazelle theme: the Nissan Gazelle Storm which is based on the extremely popular and local favourite Nissan Patrol Safari, and the Navara Gazelle Concept.

The Dubai International Motor Show is the largest and most established motoring event in the Middle East, connecting the global automotive industry with motoring enthusiasts and professionals from across the MENA and South Asia regions. The Motor Show also plays a role for hopeful customers to view the various models on display and even close a deal on their future car.

Though the major manufactures were not present, Nissan went full force with the biggest single brand manufacturer stand at the show, showing its commitment to the industry and most importantly customers. Along with the newly revealed vehicles, the stand had on display the recently launched Nissan Patrol 2020, which took centre stage, as well as the Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary in its striking Bayside Blue. The Altima, Maxima, X-Trail X-Tremer, 370Z, Kicks, and Leaf also attracted show visitors.

A survey conducted by Nissan Middle East on the stand revealed that 92% of customers who attended the show found Nissan's overall stand and fleet of vehicles appealing and highly engaging. Given its overwhelming success in the region, the Patrol 2020 model was the most captivating car attracting 38% of visitors. The Nissan's GTR 50th Anniversary Edition was the second most popular, luring in 26% of the attendees followed by the newly revealed Nissan Patrol Gazelle Storm.

On the first day, during the media press tours, Nissan presented to over 100 media and influencers the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, along with the reveal of the new cars. The presentation started with Future Ambassadors taking the stage with Nissan Middle East's Managing Director, Thierry Sabbagh, and each shared how they imagined the future of mobility to be.

With a great vehicle line up on display and numerous editorial contents produced, Nissan dominated the share of voice (SOV) amongst the entire show, with 72% of all media coverage of the Dubai International Motor Show featuring Nissan.

The show was officially inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, and he took an in-depth tour of the Nissan stand showing interest in the Gazelle Storm Concept and the recently launched Nissan Patrol 2020.

Attracting car enthusiasts to the stand were the 2020 Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition, newly Nissan Patrol, the special edition X-Trail X-Tremer, Altima, Maxima, 370Z and a dual-tone Kicks.

Gazelle Concepts

Drawing inspiration from the fleet-footed gazelle, master of swiftly manoeuvring through the Arabian deserts, Nissan Middle East expanded the Patrol Safari family with the introduction of the Nissan Patrol Gazelle and Gazelle X one-year ago. At the show, the Gazelle name attracted positive hype too with the new concepts, inspired by and built for the region, on display.

Built on the iconic Nissan Patrol Super Safari and powered by a 4.8L 6-cylinder powerhouse, the Gazelle Storm Concept offers an unparalleled off-road experience that can conquer anywhere. Its great off-roading capability upgrade with a higher approach angle and an on-board tire compressor fits in perfectly with the off-roading culture of the region. It also embraces a premium and tough interior reflected in striking Gazelle Storm leather and varying mood lights along with a storage box for off-road gear and camping equipment.

The Navara Gazelle concept attracted all who loved sports and performance too with its newly designed bumpers, tailgate spoilers, enhanced suspension shocks, built-in compressor and a two-inch lift kit with all terrain tires. Other exciting highlight that gained attention was its 2.5-Litre engines, with a potential diesel or gasoline choice making the most of power and efficiency.

The Future Generation

Nissan hosted school students from the Clarion School in Dubai and presented to them a highlight of how cars are designed, manufactured and shipped to the United Arab Emirates, and electric vehicles namely the Nissan LEAF.

Dubai Expo 2020 Corner

The UAE Vision 2021 and Dubai Plan 2021 aims to make Dubai a smart, integrated, and connected city - one that is fully sustainable with its resources and clean environmental components. Similarly, a federal mandate that states 10% of investments in new vehicles will cover electric and hybrid cars by 2020, will greatly help in encouraging consumers to make the shift to more environmentally friendly methods of transportation.

To highlight this and Nissan's global partnership with Dubai Expo 2020, Nissan featured a corner dedicated to the Expo on the stand, which demonstrated Nissan's energy share technology through the Nissan Leaf on display.

An activation, powered by the Nissan Leaf on display, saw visitors to the stand run frantically to simulate the generation of energy (in joules) for a free cup of coffee or hot chocolate. A touch sensitive pad captured the participant's feet taps and after a certain number was reached, a QR code was given. The participant then scanned the QR code on a machine connected to a special printer, which printed either a selfie of them or one of several preloaded Nissan pictures on their beverage of choice. By the end of the show, a total of 39 million joules were simulated by all the stand visitors that took part in the activity.

Committed to bringing innovation and excitement to customers in the region, Nissan Middle East succeeded in building a bigger crowd of passionate motoring enthusiasts in this year's motor show giving visitors a full immersion into Nissan's mobility experiences and creating new ways to connect and engage with them.
