Dubai, UAE: VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show 2019 (VOD DIJS) came to a close yesterday, November 16th, following a jampacked 4 days of exhibition, events, amazing retail offers, fashion shows, and much more, at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). A truly international event, VOD DIJS hosted more than 500 top local, regional and international brands from 21 countries. Large crowds of excited visitors showed up every day to sample the endless array of stunning jewellery pieces, special offers and exclusive product launches on offer.

The business matchmaking element of VOD DIJS proved to be an integral part of the show’s success, as the Hosted Buyers Programme paired prominent local and international retailers and decision-makers, from 13 countries, with wholesalers and event exhibitors. In addition to building new strategic partnerships in the industry, participants were able to explore opportunities for competitive advantage and gain access to unique collections.

The international influence of VOD DIJS was reflected in this year’s visitor figures, with more than 126 nationalities present at the show. The UAE, *** [COUNTRY 2] , [COUNTRY 3] etc. *** topped the visitor statistics, while African countries also had a strong presence at the event. This is further evidence of the value of VOD DIJS’ pre-show promotional roadshow, which, in addition to Middle Eastern countries like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Jordan, expanded its focus to countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Sudan, South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, and South Africa, when sourcing hosted buyers for this year’s show.

Speaking after the conclusion of VOD DIJS 2019, Daniele Villa, Show Director, commented, “We are hugely encouraged by the positive response to VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show 2019. The evolution of the show was clear for all to see at this year’s edition, as we broadened its scope to ensure the B2B and B2C sectors were fully embraced. We are delighted to have successfully reaffirmed the show’s role in developing Dubai’s reputation as a global hub for the jewellery industry and the go-to destination when it comes to developing positive business relationships.”

One of the many highlights of VOD DIJS 2019 was a special panel discussion to preview Trendvision’s ‘The Jewellery Trendbook 2021+’. The discussion, which was moderated by world-renowned luxury trend forecaster and jewellery designer Paola De Luca, included a panel of top industry personalities, who provided fascinating insights while exploring a range of topics, such as socio-cultural phenomena’s impact on the evolution of purchasing behaviour, jewellery directions (both internationally and across the GCC), trend forecasting, forward-thinking entrepreneurs, and more.

VOD DIJS renewed its collaboration with The New Jeweller Group for the third edition of The Middle East Jewellery Designers’ Forum 2019. Eminent industry speakers, including retailers, manufacturers, designers, educators, students, association heads, and other key personalities, presented, debated and spoke on a host of important subjects concerning the Middle East’s gem and jewellery sector, including future trends. This year’s edition of the show also saw another successful new partnership emerge, as The Retail Jeweller Magazine linked up with VOD DIJS for the first ‘Retail Jeweller Dubai Forum 2019’, at the nearby Conrad, Dubai.

The promotion of local designers was to the fore once again, with a variety of exciting initiatives playing integral roles in the show. VOD DIJS partnered with DMCC through the recently launched Dubai Design Academy (DDA) to showcase Dubai’s top-tier jewellery design talent. Additionally, Al Qelada was back at VOD DIJS with a workshop focusing on jewellery design for children of determination, along with the launch of a new collection created by children of determination.

After a hugely successful 2019 edition, plans are already underway for VOD DIJS 2020 at DWTC. on *** [DATE OF NEXT YEAR’S SHOW] ***.
