Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Microsoft today concluded its successful participation at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) 2019, as the company demonstrated a range of technological innovations to empower the energy sector in achieving more.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, the four-day event attracted over 145,000+ visitors from 135 countries to conduct business, exchange knowledge and address today’s energy challenges to define tomorrow’s energy landscape.

“We see ADIPEC as a remarkable global platform for the energy industry players to connect and exchange knowledge.” said Omar Saleh, Head of Energy & Manufacturing, Microsoft Middle East & Africa. “Our continued participation at this event is a reflection of Microsoft’s commitment to empowering business transformation across the industry.”

“Currently, the energy sector can make the most out of our cloud regions by availing enterprise-grade reliability and performance, combined with data residency and the broadest compliance standards.” Added Saleh. “Microsoft’s intelligent cloud can play a remarkable role in disrupting traditional ways, drive value, and deliver innovation across the industry”.

Microsoft’s booth at ADIPEC’s digitalization Zone showcased various industry solutions and capabilities that bring unprecedented efficiencies and yield exceptional value across Oil & Gas operations.

Following a significant surge in the demand for its cloud services in the region, Microsoft earlier this year launched two dedicated cloud data centers in the UAE – one in Abu Dhabi and one in Dubai. These facilities are catering specifically to organizations in the Middle East by providing the trusted, and intelligent Microsoft cloud.

Microsoft also hosted its partners at the company’s booth. Each of them showcased their innovations, built on top of the Microsoft cloud and AI platforms. The partners included Bentley Systems, Icertis, o9 Solutions, Oilsphere, Seeq, OSlsoft, Belmont Technology, L&T Technology Services Limited, and Intelie. A Digital Talk agenda ran throughout the event featuring close partners like ABB, Accenture, Aveva, Baker Hughes-C3, Emerson, EY, Futureon, Honeywell, Rockwell Automation, and Schlumberger.

During ADIPEC, Microsoft also announced that it will open an AI Centre of Excellence for Energy in the United Arab Emirates – a global first for the company. Supported by industry leading partners the Microsoft AI Centre of Excellence is expected to open in early 2020 and will support the company’s efforts in in enabling organizations to accelerate their digital journeys, enhancing AI readiness, as well as collaborating on coalitions to address sustainability and safety challenges.
