Sultanate of Oman: The Information Technology Authority (ITA) holds quarter gatherings for the digital transformation leaders in the government entities to boost the electronic services delivery in the Sultanate. The Third meeting was held yesterday with the presence of 150 employees from around 80 government entities. This platform is an opportunity to discuss the challenges faced by the government entities in their digital transformation journey and it is also a chance to highlight some success stories from the entities themselves to encourage each other.

The gathering highlighted the Ministry of Municipalities and Water Resources success story in their digital transformation project. The Ministry has successfully implemented its project in three phases. The first phase they launched the technical permits and they recently launched a trial of the water services. The Ministry seeks to launch the health permits and services before the end of this year.

The digital transformation team at ITA presented the current status of the fourth assessment of the government eServices and the upcoming project milestones. The gathering also addressed the 2020 Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment Services and its new categories and conditions. The announcement of the next Award edition details and the registration will be in January 2020. The attendees shared their inquiries about the Award and the challenges they faced in the project submission and the jury evaluation.

The outcomes of the ICT labs that was held earlier this year by the Implementation Support and Follow-Up Unit has been addressed in the meeting to keep the teams up to date with the projects that will be implemented in the coming years through the utilization of the fourth industrial revolution technologies.
