Dubai, UAE: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Dubai Maritime Agenda 2019 will open tomorrow (Sunday, 22 September 2019) as the first main event of the first-of-its-kind UAE Maritime Week 2019 to be held from 22nd to 26th of September 2019. Maritime industry leaders will take part in the UAE Maritime Week, which will highlight the country’s rising global influence and advanced maritime clusters. The event will be staged after Dubai was named one of the best marine capitals in the world for 2019 and was included in the top five cities in the International Shipping Center Development Index.

Amer Ali, Executive Director of the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), said that the UAE Maritime Week 2019 is attracting international attention thanks to its effective role in strengthening bridges of communication between maritime leaders. The participants will discuss and identify the best ways to build an innovative and knowledge- and technology-driven maritime industry amid in keeping with the rapid changes in the 21st century.

Ali added: “The current edition features high-level events where attendees can exchange international best practices and pioneering experiences led by Dubai’s achievements in its bid to become a major maritime hub for global trade. The UAE Maritime Week is taking place in light of the rapid growth of the logistics sector, which plays a major role in diversifying the national economy, and Dubai’s advanced stride towards becoming a major hub in the field of maritime, air, and logistics linkage. The latter is in line with the objectives of the Dubai Silk Road strategy, which is a top priority of the 50-Year Charter issued by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”

The Dubai Maritime Agenda 2019 will bring together maritime leaders, decision makers, regional and international experts, government officials, policy makers, and representatives of leading international maritime companies to discuss cooperation, innovation, smart technology, and sustainable practices, which will drive global trade and the international shipping segment. The Agenda will features four sessions titled ‘Commercial uncertainty: China, Brexit, and maritime market fundamentals;’ ‘Artificial Intelligence/Blockchain Technologies and Maritime Trade;’ ‘Globalization and Consolidation: Two Irreversible Trends for the Industry;’ and ‘Regional Maritime Growth and Trade Opportunities.’

Aside from the Dubai Maritime Agenda 2019, the UAE Maritime Week 2019 will also feature other high-profile conferences and forums where global maritime industry leaders can learn more about the latest innovations in shipping and cargo, which facilitate, revitalize, and support the global maritime trade. Other events this year include the ‘SeaTrade Offshore Marine & Workboats ME;’ the ‘Marine Insurance Conference;’ the ‘Emirates Maritime Arbitration Conference;’ the ‘SeaTrade Ship Tech Middle East’, and the ‘SeaTrade Maritime Awards in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa.’
