Seef District, Kingdom of Bahrain – The Bahrain Telecommunications Authority (TRA) has held a meeting with the Bahrain Telecommunications Company (BATELCO), with the aim of discussing latest developments on the Company's separation process.

This is the latest in a series of meetings (over 70 meetings) and public consultations (8 public consultations), which the TRA has held with the industry in order to ensure the successful implementation of the 4th National Telecommunications Plan, including the separation of Batelco into two separate entities. The TRA is satisfied that the project remains on track and that ultimately the requirements of the sector will be fully addressed.

The TRA considers the separation process as fundamental to the new industry structure, which will result in the establishment of a new economic regulatory framework in line with Government’s policy directions under the fourth National Telecommunications Plan.  Ultimately, the new framework should result in enhanced services for consumers, unprecedented broadband speeds and state of the art suite of services to support the business sector. The TRA is confident that its work will contribute to the Kingdom of Bahrain becoming the strategic investment destination of choice and a regional Centre for information technology and digital communications.
