Abuhimed Alsheikh Alhagbani Law Firm (AS&H) in co-operation with Clifford Chance, is pleased to announce that Khalid Al-Abdulkareem has joined the AS&H partnership as Senior Partner, with effect from 1 January 2019.

Khalid is one of the most prominent, highly respected and experienced legal practitioners in Saudi Arabia. He has extensive experience in advising multinationals and major Saudi Arabian corporates, financial institutions and government entities in connection with corporate restructuring, cross-border mergers, joint ventures, securitisation, shareholders agreements, capital markets law, foreign direct investment and privatisation matters. He has advised on and drafted various Saudi Arabian laws and regulations.

Khalid spent the first nine years of his career as a faculty member at the Institute of Public Administration in Riyadh followed by eight years as a Legal Advisor to the Royal Court (including three years as a Legal Advisor to the Court of the Crown Prince). He then joined private practice with Al-Jadaan & Partners Law Firm in early 2003, becoming a partner in 2008, before joining Clifford Chance as a partner in 2013. He then played a key role in the successful transition of the practices of Clifford Chance Law Firm to AS&H in November 2016.

Following the launch of AS&H, Khalid remained a Clifford Chance partner, a member of the AS&H leadership team and besides his contribution in advising on several landmark deals, he also played a significant role in the growth of the firm, that will shortly reach 42 lawyers.

Announcing the joining of Khalid to the AS&H partnership, Dr. Fahad Abuhimed, Managing Partner of AS&H commented:

“The partners and I are delighted to have Khalid as a Senior Partner. Khalid is without doubt one of the most respected and highly regarded lawyers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a stellar track record. He has been an integral part of the team for the past sixteen years and with his support and continued participation in the leadership team of AS&H, we can continue offering best in class legal services to clients and also continue investing in the growth of the practice."

Khalid commented:

“I'm delighted with this new role. Working with the finest team in the Kingdom for the past sixteen years, I look forward to contributing to its future growth and success. There are tremendous opportunities in the Saudi market and across the Middle East.  My aim is  to ensure our clients have access to the best legal minds, both locally and internationally, using AS&H's regional and Clifford Chance's global network and connections."
