Doha : The Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) Dean’s Honor List has recognized the academic performance of 63 high-achieving pre-medical and foundation students.

Students who achieved a grade point average of 3.75 or higher during the Spring or Fall Semester of the 2020-21 Academic Year were included on the list. Forty-five students scored a double victory by making it onto the list in both semesters.

The achievements of the students were acknowledged in a ceremony held at the college and online. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Javaid Sheikh, dean of WCM-Q said: “Making it onto the Dean’s Honor List takes a great deal of dedication and perseverance; it is not an easy feat by any means. You should all feel very proud of yourselves, as we do of you. I offer my sincere congratulations to our wonderful students and my heartfelt thanks to our faculty for helping them achieve their potential. Well done to all.”

Dr. Sean Holroyd, WCM-Q associate dean for student affairs, said: “Our students have shown remarkable resilience to continue to excel academically during the upheaval and uncertainty of the pandemic. It is extremely gratifying to be able to congratulate those students who have overcome the difficult circumstances and met the very high standards required to make it onto the Dean’s Honor List.”

WCM-Q alumna Dr. Mashael Al-Khelaifi of the Class of 2008, now a senior consultant anesthesiologist, gave the keynote speech at the ceremony, saying: “We are here to recognize this achievement, knowing that it is as a result of long-standing hard work on your part. This achievement, which signifies a striving for scientific and clinical excellence, is of utmost importance - especially now. So, congratulations - be proud of yourselves, and keep up the hard work.”
