ABU DHABI, 18th July, 2017 (WAM) -- The Ministry of Interior has provided the General Command of Civil Defence with a new vehicle that will serve as an "accidents assistant" with a modern mobile operating room which complies with the latest international standards.

The new vehicle is equipped to comply with all the requirements of the Ministry of Interior, including combined traffic monitoring systems, nationality and residence systems, information enquiry and accounts systems and penal and accidents security systems.

Maj. General Jassem Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Commander-in-Chief of the Civil Defence, stated that the new vehicle, which was manufactured in Germany, is now part of the fleet of the General Command of Civil Defence, as per the directives of H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, to modernise firefighting and rescue vehicles and equipment, to reduce response times for accidents and promote the preventive efforts against risks and safety challenges.

Al Marzouqi added that the vehicle is classified as the "Number 1 responder" to accidents, and is considered the commanders eye in the field during an accident. He also noted that the vehicle will provide a live broadcast of the incident to the main operations room, and send images and videos directly through cell phone networks using a data package provided by the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation, as well as through the satellites of Yahsat.

He highlighted that the vehicle has five screens, four fixed cameras, a seven-metre high mobile camera and another external camera, as well as IP telephones, a digital communication system and a multi-use fax machine. It is also equipped with a meteorological station, to monitor weather conditions during an accident, he added.

Al Marzouqi stressed that the vehicle can be upgraded according to the requirements of the Ministry of Interior as a future plan to be studied, and it can also be equipped with an additional mobile camera that can aid the field commander and monitor the state of health of firefighters. He also described these upgrades as a useful addition to the local prevention and safety system.
