The Abu Dhabi Police have said that the week-long movement ban in Abu Dhabi that began on Tuesday to ensure mass Covid-19 testing could be extended to 10 days or two weeks, depending on the results, Al Bayan reported on Wednesday.

Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, director-general of Abu Dhabi Police, said that the extension decision will be announced by Abu Dhabi Emergencies and Crisis Management Committee based on the results of the first week.

He added that 90 per cent of the citizens and residents are following the directives and precautions implemented by the authorities.

The authorities will facilitate movement permits for travel by exempted categories like employees of essential sectors, patients who need to visit hospitals or those who have to reach airports in other emirates.
