The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority welcomed key players from technology industries, including telecoms, cloud and infrastructure providers for a two hours online seminar discussing “Open IT Infrastructure Towards Digitalization”.

Separating hardware from software is an emerging trend in digital technologies that could potentially transform how service providers operate business and leverage such technologies to deliver new offerings or even rebuild existing ones.

Eng. Mohamed Alnoaimi, Director of Technical Operations stated that “This is an opportunity for vendors, such as hardware solution providers, to offer new breeds of technologies that allow endless opportunities in offering flexible solutions that cater to their specific market needs. This encourages operators and service providers in becoming more adaptable, dynamic, and cost efficient, enabling faster to market offerings adapting to market needs.”

Speaking in the Seminar were industry representatives from the Open Compute Project (OCP), a collaborative group focused on redefining hardware technology to efficiently support the growing demands on compute infrastructure, making it more efficient and flexible to achieve greater choice, customization, and cost savings. Also among the speakers were representatives from the Open Networking Foundation (ONF), who transform access by collaboratively developing next-generation mobile and broadband infrastructures through forefront technologies.
