Saudi Arabia has decided to ease curbs on the industrial zone in its Eastern port of Dammam following more than two months of complete closure due to the spread of coronavirus, local newspapers reported on Thursday.

The state-owned Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zone (Modon), which manages nearly 35 industrial zones in the Gulf Kingdom, issued instructions to ease restrictions on supplies and activities in the Dammam Industrial Zone 2, they said.

"We have started to gradually end the lockdown in the zone but housing areas will remain isolated and a full curfew will remain in force," Modon's Director General Khalid Al-Salim said in a statement carried by Aleqtisadia and other Saudi papers.

He said supply of goods and services to the zone would resume this week but only workers and vehicles with their drivers would be allowed into the zone.
