San Donato Milanese (Italy): Saipem is the first company among the other 12 Italian ones in the Engineering News-Record (ENR) ranking, the leading US magazine for construction and engineering industry professionals. ENR recently published the Top 250 International Contractors ranking of 2021 in which Saipem ranked 14th.

The Top 250 of ENR gathers the most important engineering and construction companies, classifying them on the basis of the revenues deriving from projects outside their country of origin with a focus on a single geographical area. Saipem has been ranked fourth and fifth respectively for the specific rankings related to the Middle East and Africa.

The analysis of the data and the ranking prepared by ENR show how the long road towards the relaunch of a sector strongly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic can find in the important investment plans foreseen in the infrastructure sector an opportunity to accelerate the recovery and to diversify into other sectors, through transversal skills and technologies.

Saipem is moving in this direction by focusing on the energy transition and sustainable infrastructures. In the infrastructure sector, Saipem has completed projects worth approximately ten billion dollars, building more than 1,000 km of rails, 450 km of roads and over 40 km of viaducts and bridges of various kinds and is currently engaged, through its participation in the Cepav due consortium, in the construction of the second section of the MI-VE high-speed line, from Brescia to Verona.

Francesco Caio, CEO of Saipem, commented: "Our presence in the Engineering News-Record Top 250 List is an important overseas recognition of our track record in the engineering and construction sector and of our significant contribution to the development of some geographical areas in the world. Saipem has also embarked on an evolutionary path focused on the energy transition, in support of its clients, and on sustainable infrastructures, a strategic sector on which we are focusing also in Italy, giving our contribution to the Italian system, and positioning ourselves as a strategic player for the relaunch of the country".

Saipem is an advanced technological and engineering platform for the design, construction and operation of safe and sustainable complex infrastructure and plants. Saipem has always been oriented towards technological innovation and is currently committed, alongside its clients, on the frontline of energy transition with increasingly digitalised tools, technologies and processes that were devised from the outset with environmental sustainability in mind. It is listed on the Milan stock exchange and is organised into five business divisions (E&C Offshore, E&C Onshore, Drilling Offshore, Drilling Onshore and XSIGHT for consulting and engineering services in the initial phases of projects). It operates in over 60 countries around the world with 32 thousand employees from 130 different nationalities.
