Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has announced the best and worst performing government services centres following an assessment of 600 centres across the country.

Revealing the results, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid highlighted the importance of government services centres as the window through which citizens reach their government. It is thus vital for such centres to provide best-in-class services to the community by means of constant development and improvement of the quality of service.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid pointed out that people have high expectations of the government in the country that has become a role model for development in the region and beyond. The annual assessment process will gauge the performance of ministers, director generals, and executives. The results will be published with full transparency.

On his Twitter account, Sheikh Mohammed said, “We will evaluate services, ministers and managers annually. We will also evaluate ministries and entities and reveal our reports with all transparency. We have the courage to evaluate ourselves and our teams because the cost of hiding mistakes is much higher.”

As a reward for the best-performing centres, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid announced a two-month salary reward. Teams of the five best centres that will receive the two-month bonus are: The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Fujairah Centre; The Ministry of Education, Ajman Centre; The Ministry of Interior, Traffic and Licensing Centre, Ajman; The Ministry of Interior, Wasit Police Station, Sharjah; and Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, Ras Al Khaimah Centre.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid applauded the dedication of the teams working in the best-performing centres and said they are worthy of praise and reward.

Following the result of the assessment, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid directed the immediate replacement of management in the worst-performing government services centres with highly capable leaders.

“We ordered director generals to closely monitor their entities & improve centres' performance in a month & I will visit. Teams of the best centres will receive a two-month salary reward,” he said.

The worst performing government services centres are as follows: The Emirates Post Group, Al Khan, Sharjah Centre; The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Al Muhaisnah Centre for Preventive Medicine, Dubai; The General pension and Social Security Authority, Sharjah Centre; The Ministry of Community Development, Social Affairs Abu Dhabi, Baniyas Centre; and The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Fujairah Centre. – TradeArabia News Service
