Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi based Reem Hospital has been awarded two awards in recognition of its ongoing efforts at the prestigious Healthcare Asia Awards 2021.

Reem Hospital, the first post-acute rehabilitation center, and hospital was presented with the titles of ‘Specialty Hospital of the Year’ and ‘Home Care Initiative of the Year’ in the United Arab Emirates.

Healthcare Asia Awards honors outstanding healthcare companies in Asia that rise above challenges and recognize initiatives that have made a remarkable and positive impact on patients and the industry. The 2021 edition also factored in how healthcare institutions tackled the massive disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reem Hospital’s world-class care, best-in-class doctors, advanced medical technology and AI tracking and programming systems as well as the patient-centric approach it follows, have made this win possible for the organization.

VAMED, a leading healthcare group in Europe with a special focus on Rehabilitation services, manages Reem Hospital and aims to provide its international expertise as a globally renowned rehabilitation operator and establish Reem Hospital as the leading destination for post-acute rehabilitation in the Middle East.

Zaid Al-Siksek, Chairman of Reem Hospital said: “We are honored to have received these awards as it is an affirmation of the team’s commitment towards providing high-quality healthcare services to the community. These awards are not only an acknowledgment of our continuous efforts but also a testimonial to the quality of our services, which have brought great satisfaction to patients.”

As the pandemic charged on, the Department of Health activated systematic home isolation (those identified with COVID-19) and home quarantine (from travel or tracer) programs to prevent the spread of the virus. Reem Hospital was one of the very first providers to offer these services. The facility has proudly executed nearly 10,000 activities so far, including telemedicine, home care visits, and home phlebotomy services.

Reem Hospital was also one of the first providers to offer Sinopharm vaccines to the community as the Abu Dhabi government's focus was to shift from treatment to preventive measures instead.

Despite the extraordinary pressure and strain of the COVID-19 pandemic, Reem Hospital worked in tandem with the Department of Health and Abu Dhabi Health Services Corporation to provide a full range of services from telemedicine to homecare and from inpatient to post-acute care.

As the needs of the healthcare system changed, Reem Hospital proactively adapted its direction to post-acute care for post-COVID-19 patients. Equipped with a full multidisciplinary post-acute services team, Reem Hospital opened its doors to serve 200 post-COVID patients requiring post-acute rehabilitative and long-term care.

“I am proud of this recognition and owe all success to the collective spirit of support from our staff and partners, but most importantly from the UAE Government and leadership. We look forward to setting new standards in the healthcare services in the region through innovation and outstanding services.” Chairman, Zaid Al-Siksek adds.

“As the world changes and the pandemic surges on, Reem Hospital will continue to work on their vision of providing world-class clinical care pathways and programs to serve as the leading and most trusted hospital in the UAE.”
