UAE - The sixth phase of the sterilisation programme and Covid-19 screening in the Musaffah area of Abu Dhabi began on Thursday evening with Block 37, authorities have announced.

The programme, which aims to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, is being implemented by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health in partnership with relevant entities.

"This comes after the success of the first five phases of the campaign. Residents welcomed the procedures, and expressed their appreciation for the efforts being made to protect their health and safety," the Abu Dhabi Media Office said on Twitter.

"Daily commercial activities will continue as usual. Entry and exit will be restricted while the area is being sanitised."

No legal action will be taken against those violating visa regulations, said authorities, adding that protecting the community's safety and curbing the spread of Covid-19 is the government's top priority.

People living in Block 37 have been requested to cooperate and follow instructions in order for the sanitisation and testing programme to achieve its objectives.

Sanitisation and testing are taking place in a methodical manner - one block at a time - and continue until all tests are complete, said officials.

Intensive awareness programmes are offered in targeted languages, in order to increase awareness of preventative and precautionary measures.

The campaign is to ensure the provision of healthcare services to all sections of the community, and comes as part of the National Screening Programme, which aims to provide Covid-19 testing for the largest possible number of Abu Dhabi residents.
