Abu Dhabi: Zayed University (ZU) recently held an Employer Think Tank (ETT) to strengthen collaboration with its many industry partners, include new strategies and suggest initiatives that builds stronger strategic relationships with employers.

During this forum, which was recently held on ZU campus, Employers, Students, Alumni, Faculty and Staff joined together in open discussions around some key employability questions, how ZU University can enhance the employability of our graduates and what kind of initiatives and industry trends are  happening now in UAE that will affect the employment of fresh graduates.

Furthermore, ZU launched during ETT a new initiative to increase graduate employment opportunities via connecting ZU Alumni, who currently serve within the Human Resources Dept. at different entities across the UAE, with graduating job seekers.

As ambassadors for Zayed University both locally and internationally, over 140 Alumni members agreed to join the 'Zayed University Human Resources Alumni Network,' which aims to provide ZU students with learning opportunities, share experiences, and ease their hiring process.

The Student Careers and Alumni Department revealed the initiative during the Employers Think Tank, which was recently held at the Abu Dhabi Zayed University Campus, under 'Attracting Future Talent.'

Dr. Hind Al Rustamani, Assistant Provost for Students Affairs - Zayed University, mentioned that within today's dynamic labor market, "It is important for us all to reflect on our current practices, streamline and develop new initiatives to attract such talents. We hope, through sharing information, discussions, and networking, that we can further enhance our partnership, your recruitment practices, and move forward for our mutual benefit by strengthening our commitment to support and develop the youth of the UAE."

She further added that Zayed University places tremendous emphasis on such intended initiatives, to establish key partnerships and closely collaborates with industry partners. "We applaud our ambassadors' participation in such indispensable actions and for their forthcoming support to our students and graduates," Dr. Al Rustamani added.

Huda Al Ameri, ZU Alumni, currently serving at the Human Resources Dept. at one of the govt. Entities in Abu Dhabi said during her participation, that ZU graduates are well educated and talented, "Through this networking proposal, I assume Zayed University jobseekers would be prioritized throughout our job-hunting means. As an ambassador to Zayed University, I'd place my recommendation about approaching candidates from ZU to the higher management at my workplace."

Ranya Alhmoudi, ZU Alumni, serving as learning and development expert at one of the Private sector entities, said, "Zayed University Student Careers and Alumni Department must take this initiative up a notch in the coming year and invite department heads and decision-makers. We will try our best, though this newly launched network, to encourage our management that newcomers from Zayed University would add to the business, just like we did," she said.

Shaima Alawadhi, ZU Alumni, serving at Dolphin Energy, said that this initiative is a great start. "Numerous university graduates might face barriers and challenges to obtain the opportunity to join a workplace or even land an interview. Therefore, this initiative, when applied, would place ZU graduates’ CVs on top of our hiring list."
