Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced on Wednesday that it has completed 84.52 percent of the 829-megawatt (MW) Phase 4 of H-Station power plant in Al Aweer.

The 1.1-billion UAE dirham ($299.5 million) project is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2022, DEWA said in a press statement.

It said the natural gas-fuelled power project will increase the H-Station's total capacity to 2,825 MW under climate conditions of up to 50 degrees Celsius.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said Phase 4 of H-Station will help DEWA meet the reserve margin criterion set for peak electricity demand in Dubai.

H-Station currently has a total capacity of 1,996 MW.

The DEWA statement said Phase 4 incorporates three Siemens gas turbines, natural gas compressors from Germany's MAN and natural gas treatment station from Dutch company Petrogas.

DEWA's current installed power generation capacity stands at 12,900 MW.
