Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, the $1 billion theme park attraction on Yas Island in the Capital, will open to the public on July 25, it was announced on Wednesday.

The gigantic indoor park built by Miral stands on a 1.65 million sq ft area next to Yas Waterworld, and is fitted with 29 rides, all-time favourite comic characters and immersive technologies to satiate every conceivable superhero obsession of visitors of all age groups.

Featuring unique live entertainment, 16 themed dining options and shopping outlets, the park's attractions are split into six immersive lands - DC's Metropolis and Gotham City, Cartoon Junction, Bedrock, Dynamite Gulch and Warner Bros. Each offers unique experiences to visitors with their own spine-chilling rides, fan-favourite characters and jaw-droopingly impressive themed landscapes.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Miral's chairman, said: "The launch of Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is yet another milestone in the emirate's journey to further enrich its tourism offering, and help establish it as one of the world's leading tourist destinations. The park is another great addition to Yas Island's immersive experiences and award-winning attractions."

Entry to the park costs Dh230 and tickets can be bought at www.wbworld.com.

Mark Gsellman, general manager of Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, said the park is offering a special discount on its Founders Pass, with an annual membership rate of Dh695. "We will be offering a wide range of products in the coming months, which will also include combo packages with other Yas Island attractions like Ferrari World and Yas Water World.

A flight to fantasy

When you are inside Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, it does not take a flight of imagination to meet Batman in his fictional home, Gotham City, and rub shoulders with other franchise characters like the Riddler, Scarecrow, Catwoman and Harley Quinn. Batman will fight the city's supervillains, as you experience some of the most heart-pounding, spine-twisting rides like the Knight Flight - an exhilarating ride with drops, climbs, spins and rolls; and the Riddler Revolution, a rocking, spinning rollercoaster.

There is also plenty of 'bad guy' fixes at the Joker's Funhouse, a "villainous twist on the classical carnival walkthrough experience including a hall of mirrors, a shrinking corridor, a labyrinth, a hallucination hallway and moving carpets."

Move on to Metropolis, the land of the gleaming urban landscape with sky-kissing structures, jealously guarded by the Justice League members like Superman and Wonder Woman. Some of the other attractions include the Battle for Metropolis, an exhilarating ride that features the Man of Steel in a Good vs Evil battle; Galactic Odyssey a 4D flying theatre that transports guests across the cosmos; Teen Titans Academy, a multilevel play area featuring a zipline; and a training centre for aspiring superheros.

In Cartoon Junction, childhood memories come to life under year-round sunny skies alongside beloved characters including Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, and Scooby-Doo. The Yabba-Dabba-Doo begins in pre-historic Bedrock, where guests will meet everyone's favourite modern stone-age family, The Flintstones.

Venturing into the animated storyland Dynamite Gulch, guests can experience Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner's dizzying dash firsthand, and keep an eye out for Marvin The Martian and The Jetsons.

All of these lands are connected to the Warner Bros Plaza at the centre. This part of the amusement park is an Art Deco inspired land that celebrates the Golden Age of Hollywood and all things Warner Bros. A portal to the rest of the park, this land is famed for its All-Star Spectacular, a majestic show that brings the Warner Bros film library to life.

When DC's famed characters put on their capes and step out of the comc books, what you get is the ultimate fantasy fix at the Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi.
