Lafarge Egypt, a member of LafargeHolcim Group, has partnered with the Egyptian Council of Pro-Peace Physicians (ECOPP), extending a helping hand to underprivileged vicinities across Egypt with adequate healthcare services.  Lafarge Egypt’s philanthropic initiatives encompassed launching 50 medical convoys to 4 governorates throughout 2020.

Lafarge Egypt’s CSR endeavors as well endorsed providing training sessions to medical staff at hospitals and healthcare units across Egypt. Such convoys have greatly contributed to the wellbeing of examined patients; providing early detection for various diseases, performing minor surgical operations, while ensuring free-of-charge medication. While, serious medical conditions were competently handled by top specialized therapeutic centers in Cairo.

Solomon Baumgartner Aviles, CEO of Lafarge Egypt, stated: “Lafarge Egypt has first inaugurated its medical campaigns back in 2011, paving the way for Sustainable Development Goals, known as the Global Agenda 2030. Today, our healthcare convoys have proudly reached 441, remedying more than 268,048 patients in Delta, South Sinai, Suez & Giza governorates.”

Alaa Samra, CEO of the Egyptian Council of Pro-Peace Physicians (ECOPP), praised Lafarge Egypt’s earnest efforts, commenting: “Lafarge Egypt’s medical convoys have been long hailed by both participants and beneficiaries. This company has been striving for years to bridge the gap between sought-after medical specialties and insufficient healthcare services, optimizing the number of addressees in underprovided neighborhoods.”

Lafarge Egypt has been in close contact with the State’s authorities, paying due respect to precautionary measures. From complying to social distancing and wearing facemasks, to properly furnishing patients’ examination and waiting areas, Lafarge Egypt has meticulously organized its medical campaigns to safeguard Egyptian citizens.

It is worth mentioning that Lafarge Egypt’s 50 healthcare convoys benefited 23,224 patients in Giza, Qalyubia, South Sinai & Menofia governorates, from March to November 2020. The convoys covered an array of medical subspecialties including; Pathology, Endocrinology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, and E.N.T., along with Virus C and Blood Sugar tests.
