AMMAN Water Minister Raed Abu Saud on Wednesday signed a number of agreements to implement main water lines and networks worth JD167, 000 in Huishan, Umm Al Jimal, Um Batimah and Al Hodeib areas in the governorate of Mafraq. The projects will be funded through the Water Authoritys budget to improve water supply in these areas, the Jordan News Agency Petra, reported.

Abu Saud pointed out that Mafraq suffered from water shortages because of population growth. The minister affirmed that two lines worth JD85, 000 will be implemented by a local contractor in Umm Al Jimal.

He also said that the ministry will improve the water network and will implement main and minor lines worth JD82, 000 in Huishan and Um Batimah. He affirmed that these projects are scheduled to be finished within three months, with the lines being operational before summer.
