Dubai, U.A.E. : The UAE leads demand for children’s toys sector in the Middle East and there is great potential for Indian toy manufacturers to capture the lion’s share of it by taking advantage of the large Indian population in the Emirates, said Mr. Kamal Vachani, Group Director of Al Maya Group.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also discussed ways to boost toy manufacturing in India and emphasized to increase the global imprint of Indian toys in a recent meeting.

Mr. Kamal Vachani said, “This is a great opportunity for Indian manufacturers to export toys to the UAE.”

Mr. Vachani said that Indian toys are excellent in quality and the only thing is to change/improve the packaging of toys to make it more attractive. Innovation in the toy sector will make the products more competitive in the international market, he added.

In 2019, the total revenue of the world toy market was US$90.7 billion. At the same time, the Indian toy market is worth Rs1.12 lakh crore.

The UAE is riding high in the Middle East children's toy sector, with the retail value of toys and games in the country estimated at around 28 per cent of the regional market this year, according to analysts Euro monitor International (EMI).

Spending in the UAE is estimated to be worth $ 1.1 billion in 2020, increasing by 6.2 per cent annually, while the Middle East market overall will be with just under $ 4 billion this year.

At $101 per capita, the UAE is one of the largest spenders per population of toys, games and video games in the world.

This is good news for Indian toys exporters who have their sights set on boosting exports to key emerging economies. A couple of key Indian toy manufacturers are keen to explore the UAE market and said their products are very competitive in quality and price.

A few of them are Fun-zoo Toys (Soft Toys), Playgro Toys India Plastic Toys and School Equipment), Little Genius (Wooden Toys), and Ankit Toys Mfg Co. (Board Games and Puzzles).
