Dubai, UAE : – Global WIL Economic Forum concluded its 2018 edition today, business and civil society leaders called for the need of mentorship and sponsorship, as well as investment in education and reskilling to prepare female talent for the future by ensuring they have the skills to succeed in the Interdependent world we live in today, which is increasingly characterized by the use of technology.

Oranized by Naseba, under the patronage of H.E Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy, the meeting convened a diverse group of leaders from the worlds of politics, academia, business, civil society and international organizations, design, arts and culture in an aim to empower the next generation female leaders and entrepreneuers and shape tomorrow’s economy under the theme ‘Stretch: Aspiring for More’.

The messages delivered by Sophie Le Ray founder of Global WIL and CEO of Naseba, at the closing remarks of the forum called for an improved socioeconomic architecture capable of fostering female talent through mentorship, sponsorship, and increaded cooperation between the public and private sector, she said: “At Global WIL, we know that that becoming an entrepreneur can be a daunting process. Bringing a fantastic idea into a tangible product or service requires dedication and courage, but above all it also requires capital, guidance, and support. In this interdependent world, we can no longer succeed by ourselves, therefore we need to build a system that promotes systemic female leadership, A leadership that fosters cooperation and sisterhood rather than competition.”

Additionally Le Ray called for better tackling of social polarization and providing females with better access to higher and post graduate education as weel as skills to ensure they are better equipped to manage and lead in a world that is increasingly characterized by the use of AI, blockchain, and crypto technologies.

“The pace of change the world is experiencing now is the fastest we have ever seen. In order to be equipped to be future leaders, females need to enhance their personal growth through building their skills and invest in graduate and post graduate education,” she added.

In line with naseba’s call for better sponsorship and mentorship of female entrepreneurs, Naseba capital, the investment division of Naseba announced a partnership with the Capital Club Dubai to encourage and foster women entrepreneurship in the GCC, whereby the Club in cooperation with Naseba Capital, will host a series of talks by inspiring women entrepreneurs speaking about their entrepreneurial journeys. Moreover, during 2019, a series of pitch events will gather the best women-led startups of the region and the most active venture capital (VC) investors.

We are creating a dedicated VC investment vehicle in the Abu Dhabi Global Market and are planning to launch an early-stage VC fund investing in women-led startups in the UAE” added Nicola Bettio.

The tenth edition of the Global WIL Economic Forum 2018 brought together over 600 top thought leaders from the world of politics, academia, business, civil society and international organizations. The ideas and discussions at at the forum aim to influence women to become leaders in their organizations and the future generation of female enterpreneurs. Recommendations generated from the forum will be put forward to the concerd government departments in an aim to work together to see change on ground.
