Thales has been appointed to provide maintenance services to Dubai Metro’s signalling and communication systems.

The Paris-listed firm was appointed by French-Japanese consortium, Keolis-MHI, a joint venture of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC).

It will provide corrective maintenance, on-demand system enhancements, repairs and spares for signalling and communications systems for both red and green lines on Dubai Metro as well the Expo 2020 Dubai extension, Route 2020.

Keolis-MHI was selected in March 2021 to operate the metro and tram networks by Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) for the next 15 years.

Thales has worked with the RTA to equip driverless trains on the red line, green line and the Expo 2020 Dubai extension, Route 2020, with SelTrac signaling technology, integrated supervision, telecommunications, passenger services, security and automated fare collection systems powered by its Transcity Up solution and PG600 gates.
