Abu Dhabi – Emirates Telecommunication Group (Etisalat) is considering the establishment of three smart cities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in coordination with real estate developers.

In cooperation with Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), Etisalat has implemented a smart city in the recent period, including early error-reporting lighting systems, the Senior Vice President of Government Sales at Etisalat, Abdulla Ibrahim Al Ahmed, said during GITEX Technology Week 2020.

The smart city also has the Internet of Things (IoT) waste management systems that automatically empty filled waste containers.

Moreover, Al Ahmed referred that the company recorded an over 250% surge in the use of online audio and video calling applications via mobile and fixed broadband systems amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

It is noteworthy to mention that in the first nine months of 2020, the net profits attributable to the owners of Etisalat rose by 3.7% to AED 6.98 billion from AED 6.73 billion in the same period of 2019.
