Abu Dhabi, UAE – On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, Emirates Foundation, the national foundation of the UAE established to facilitate public-private partnerships for empowering youth, in collaboration with a number of volunteering organizations across the UAE, hosts an engaging event for people of determination, enabling them to participate in a range of entertaining activities. 

The event is open to Emirati youth and families, encouraging them to participate in the activities and providing them the opportunity to embrace the culture of volunteering and give back to their communities in the spirit of service. 

The event will take place in Um Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi today, December 5th 2017, between 4:00pm- 7:00pm and will be attended by representatives from Emirates Foundation, Ministry of Community Development, Special Olympics IX Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Games 2018, Abu Dhabi Police, UAE Marshal, Zayed Higher Organization, Future Center for Special Needs, Happiness Imprint (basmetsaadah), Barjeel Foundation, Ghantoot Club, and Irtiqa Center for Talent development.

The event is expected to witness a large attendance from people of determination who will take part in a fun filled afternoon activities alongside Emirati youth who will dedicate their time to organize the activities, as part of their commitment to volunteer.

Commenting on the event, His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Managing Director of the Emirates Foundation, said: “The act of volunteering is a unique virtue and a treasure to our nation, creating both social value and a boost to the economy. At Emirates Foundation, promoting volunteerism amongst youth, is at heart of our mission, and we stand committed to continue to nurture and cultivate the culture of volunteering as part of our commitment towards our nation’s economic development and prosperity.”

His Excellency further elaborated: “Our presence today’ is a true reflection of the vision set forth by the UAE wise leadership aiming at educating and raising the awareness for our youth about the importance of volunteering and giving back to the nation. At Emirates Foundation, we believe in the highest potential of our youth and their sense of social responsibility and therefore trust them to deliver on being ‘volunteering ambassadors’ for our nation.”

His Excellency further expressed his gratitude to the volunteers who have demonstrated their commitment and dedication throughout the year at events hosted locally and internationally, and thanked volunteer organizations joining the event in full solidarity and support to nurturing the culture of volunteerism amongst youth across the nation.

As part of Emirates Foundation’s commitment to promote the culture of volunteering, Emirates Foundation in Partnership with the Ministry of Community Development launched earlier this year, “Volunteers.ae”, a nationwide volunteer engagement platform, designed to facilitate and encourage volunteerism opportunities across the UAE.  The Sports and Culture Day further provides Emirati Youth with the opportunity to sign up through volunteers.ae and learn more about the volunteering opportunities across various areas and regions across all Emirates.
