Dubai-based Emirates District Cooling (Emicool) announced on Monday that the total length of its district cooling pipeline network crossed 240 kilometres in 2019.

The company, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dubai Investments, said in a press statement that it currently operates 355,000 RT (Refrigeration Tonnes) of cooling capacity, providing district cooling services to more than 2,200 buildings.

The statement also noted that in the past five years, Emicool's pipeline network increased by more than 38 percent, while the number of sectors increased from 2 to 8. Sectors covered include residential, retail, commercial buildings, hotels, schools, universities, hospitals, industrial facilities and labour accommodation.

The statement quoted CEO Adib Moubadder as saying that the "diversity of Emicool's customer base and the key sectors served is testimony to increasing investments toward infrastructure development coupled with growing demand for reliable and cost-efficient cooling systems."

Emicool provides district cooling services to DIP, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Sports City, Uptown Mirdif, Palazzo Versace, Damac Hills, Mirdiff Hills, Night Souk by Nakheel, RTA Metro Stations (Expo line) and DWTC at Expo 2020, according to the statement.
