Edbiz Consulting announces today the appointment of its new CEO. Sofiza Azmi takes over from Humayon Dar as the new CEO of the London-based Islamic financial advisory group. Dar will continue to serve as Executive Chairman of HD-Edbiz Group of Companies, and will remain based in London. The new CEO will be based in Kuala Lumpur, from where she will lead the global business of HD-Edbiz Group of Companies. "It is indeed an honour for me to succeed Humayon Dar who developed the business from scratch and brought it to its current globally recognised status," said Sofiza Azmi.

Sofiza Azmi is an accomplished Islamic finance expert who has authored one of the most widely used textbooks on Islamic finance. She brings a wide range of expertise and experience to the company. Prior to joining Edbiz Consulting, she served as Director Strategy, Policy Development and Research at Asian Institute of Finance. She has written a number of award-winning case studies on financial institutions and is considered as the most talented case-writer in Islamic banking and finance. Sofiza Azmi will also serve as Editor-in-Chief of Global Islamic Finance Report (GIFR), which Edbiz Consulting has been publishing annually since 2010. The 2016 edition of the report is expected to be released at the end of March 2016. As CEO, she will also serve as the Chief Coordinator of Global Islamic Finance Awards and Islamic Retail Banking Awards, which have for the last three years been held in Dubai and Bahrain.
