Dubai: The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), received a delegation from Sharjah Entrepreneurship Foundation (Ruwad) to discuss prospects of joint cooperation in enabling national projects and consolidating their role in supporting the national economy.

The Authority, such as the Emirates Quality Mark and Conformity Certificates, in a way that reinforces its role locally and internationally.

The two parties are currently considering the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding, in preparation for the adoption of national projects registered members of "Ruwad" Foundation, and obtained the Emirates quality mark and a certificate of conformity approved in the Authority.

A study is currently underway to prepare a guide that includes the UAE standard for these projects and how they work in an effort to protect the consumer and support the national economy.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of issuing a guide for the UAE standard, related to national projects and the mechanism of preparing them so as to contribute to guide the owners of these projects and acquaint them with the tools to apply these standards accurately and effectively.

Support to national projects

Dr. Yousef Al-Saadi, Director of Conformity Affairs department, ESMA, said that the Authority will study the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding to approve the national projects subject to the Foundation "Ruwad" to enable these projects to obtain development opportunities for their work, pointing out that ESMA is working to strengthen the role of national projects And support its work and growth.

Ruwad listened to a detailed explanation of the services provided by ESMA with regard to the advantages granted to companies and institutions. Conformity certificates, as well as the roles played by the Authority to support national products inside and outside the UAE.

Stimulate development

H.E Hamad Al Mahmoud, Director of Ruwad Foundation, confirmed that this visit is part of the standard comparative visits plan for 2019.This plan has been prepared and designed in cooperation with the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah.

He Pointed out that the plan works to achieve direct communication with the relevant authorities To know more closely how to establish new institutions with the functions and competencies that affect the overall development process in the UAE, as well as the impact of these institutions to bring about positive development in policies, systems and work of other institutions. 

These visits will provide an important opportunity for the team working in the institution to learn about the mechanisms of implementation of internal construction in new institutions and the impact on achieving their objectives.

As well as to know the role of these bodies in stimulating the sources of economic development or the development of specific economic sectors or keep up with the best development practices applied in countries the world.
