Dubai, UAE:UAE home-grown company Dulsco is celebrating scooping wins in three categories at the Middle East Waste & Recycling Awards. The company, which has been operating in the UAE for over 80 years and currently handles over one third of the waste generated in Dubai each day, was announced runner up in both ‘Waste Management Company of the Year’ and ‘Best Public Awareness Campaign’ categories, as well as the prestigious and unique ‘Personality of the Year – Waste Management’ Award for its Chief Innovation Officer Madhumohan Sreeram.’

Dulsco’s recent initiatives include partnering with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for establishing construction and demolition waste processing facilities in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. It has also collaborated with Chochoma Studios to upcycle waste glass into unique boutique products, invested AED 25 Million in a recycling facility in Dubai to increase recycling and materials recovery rate, and invested a further AED 25 Million to set up a state-of-the-art ‘slop and sludge’ plant in Jebel Ali - a unique facility in the region.

Dulsco’s public awareness campaigns in the areas of Jumeirah and Safa, Dubai, as part of Dubai Municipality’s door-to-door ‘My City My Environment’ initiative helped it win the Best Public Awareness Campaign award. Several activities were organised by Dulsco as part of this campaign, which involved reaching out to stakeholders across different age groups with the objective of creating sustainable and clean communities. Dulsco’s activities included door-to-door engagement, awareness at mosques during Ramadan and informative SMS messages. During the campaign,’ Dulsco successfully reached out to more than 800 students through environment awareness sessions and involved 13 government schools in a one-month recyclables collection drive, with two schools also participating in a beach clean-up. Dulsco was also the ‘Green Partner’ at Dubai Sky Carnival in 2017, providing waste management and recycling services to the event, as well as promoting source segregation and sustainability. Around 100 bags of recyclables were collected during the carnival, which amounted to approximately 2,000 kgs., with the company also distributing 1,000 reusable bags at supermarkets in the locality.

Since its inception in 1935, Dulsco has been the foremost provider of environmental and people solutions to reputed organisations in the region. The company’s customers include government bodies, leading malls, infrastructure projects and community developments. Dulsco also provides services that are integral to the operation of airports, seaports, third-party logistics companies, manufacturing units and retailers in the region.
