UAE –   Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced it has received a delegation from Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) headed by CEO of Masdar Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi to strengthen their strategic partnership on renewable and clean energy.

During the meeting, both parties discussed several plans and projects that bolster the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071, according to a press release on Wednesday.

These plans aim at boosting the UAE’s global position as one of the best countries in the world and as a hub for green economy and sustainable development.

The meeting also tackled DEWA’s participation in the 13th World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2020, hosted by Masdar in Abu Dhabi, in addition to the authority’s remarkable participation as Efficiency Partner in the 12th WFES held last January.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of DEWA, said: “We always seek to strengthen partnership and co-operation with Masdar, share best global experiences and practices, achieve the directives of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; for the promotion of sustainable development.”

For his part, Al Ramahi highlighted the importance of the partnership between Masdar and DEWA, mainly in developing the third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai.

This project “contributes to achieving the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to provide 75% of Dubai's total power output from clean energy by 2050,” the release indicated.

At the end of the meeting, Al Ramahi gave a letter of appreciation and a commemorative trophy to Al Tayer for DEWA’s sponsoring and supporting Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2019.
