United Arab Emirates – Volkswagen fans from across the region helped make history this weekend, as over 1,000 enthusiasts gathered in Abu Dhabi for the largest Dub Drive GCC to date. The monumental annual event kicked off with a convoy of over 400 cars through the streets of the capital, made possible through the support of the Abu Dhabi police, Abu Dhabi Department of Transport and Emirates Motorsport Organization.

Dub Drive GCC - now in its 4th edition and hosted by Volkswagen Middle East – welcomed Volkswagen club members from across the region including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, as well as international guests Jost Capito, Managing Director for Volkswagen R, and Tanner Foust, professional racing driver and international stuntman.

The festival showcased the heartbeat of the brand and united family and friends through intrinsic love for automotive. From SUV driving experiences, Teramont pulling challenges, kids driving school, drifting experiences, racing simulators and track drives. Ending at sunset with fans dancing to the DJ and competitions where a 2020 Passat was given away live on stage.

“The energy and passion of the regional Volkswagen community truly came to life this weekend. Dub Drive GCC gets bigger and better each year and we are proud to witness the support and turn out from clubs and fans across the region for the fourth edition. The spirit and unity witnessed through the love for the brand is tangible and we are so proud to have hosted this very special automotive occasion once again,” commented Victor Dalmau, Managing Director for Volkswagen Middle East.

As international representatives for the brand, Jost Capito and Tanner Foust were equally inspired by the exceptional energy experienced at the event. “Being part of a brand that can bring people together this way is something unique. I have seen the magnitude of Dub Drive GCC growing year-on-year and it has firmly cemented its position on the international stage for automotive events. The spirit of it is infectious,” commented Jost Capito, Managing Director for Volkswagen R, who has attended the event for the past 3 years.

For Volkswagen Club guests, the pinnacle moment of the car festival was the much-anticipated Awards Ceremony. This year’s Dub Drive ‘Car of the Year Award’ went to Fahad Aman, who won a trip to attend Wörthersee Treffen in May. “I am extremely thrilled to be recognized today for the efforts that I’ve put into my car and I look forward to representing my club and the region as a whole at Wörthersee Treffen.”

‘Best Classic Car of the Year’ was awarded to Amjad El Hibri and ‘Best R of the Year’ was awarded to David Aaron. The owner who won the ‘Volkswagen Star’ title was Mohammed Al Atiq.

Dub Drive GCC was inspired by the age-old tradition of Wörthersee Treffen, which is the largest Volkswagen GTI event in the world. Recently, the Middle East club community was showcased on the international stage and this exposure has energized the passion in the region even further. Volkswagen thrives through empowering its passionate community and it is this that will continue to drive the heartbeat of the brand.
