Nearly 64 per cent of the work has been completed at the 227-unit government housing project located in the Al Buhair region of Bahrain, reported BNA, citing the kingdom's housing minister.

The entire construction of the 310,000-sq-m residential development will be over by the end of this year, said Bassem bin Yacoub Al Hamar.

The minister pointed out that it was one of the main housing projects within the ministry's work programmes of building 25,000 new homes in collaboration with the private sector under the Government Action Plan (2015-2018).

Al Hamar said the ministry was committed to its goal of building 40,000 residential units across the kingdom within the specified time frame at the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The project includes more than 600 units to be implemented in stages, and provided with amenities suitable to satisfy the typical requirements of the Bahraini family, he added.
