Muscat: To spread awareness about the newly announced electricity tariff, Mazoon Electricity Company, the leading electricity provider in Oman organised a special workshop which was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Hilal bin Said bin Hamdan Al Hajri, governor of Al Dakhiliya governorate along with several other officials.

The workshop covered the new electricity subsidy reformed policy and timeframe; types of target tariff; tariffs for residential groups; available channels for customers to update data; national support system and examples of changes in electricity bills for customers according to the new tariff.

The workshop was part of a wide awareness campaign Mazoon Electricity has planned to educate different stakeholders about the new tariffs using different channels. The company has been targeting different customers in all areas under Mazoon Electricity service coverage which are the governorates of Al Dakhiliya, South Al Sharqiya, North Al Sharqiyah, and South Al Batinah, in addition to the wilayat of Al Suwaiq of North Al Batinah governorate.

The objective of the workshops is to disseminate information, educate customers and provide important and accurate facts about the reformed electricity tariff. A new tariff for electricity consumption will be gradually applied to all consumer groups from January 1, 2021.

Since the application of the new tariff depends on the accuracy of the customer data available to the company, Mazoon Electricity has urged customers to update their data as soon as possible, through the company's website (mzec.nama.om) or by going to the nearest Sanad Services Centre, with the required documents.
